If you are looking for Kodak Vision3 50D, 200T, or 500T Super 8 film, you are not alone. Availability has become limited across Kodak’s ordering system and several major U.S. film retailers.
Kodak Vision3 50D and 200T are currently among the most difficult Super 8 stocks to locate. Kodak Vision3 500T remains available through some retailers, but inventory can change quickly.
Filmmakers across the United States are reporting difficulty locating Kodak Super 8 film, with repeated availability questions appearing in online filmmaking communities.

Availability of Kodak Vision3 Super 8 film is changing quickly. Kodak 50D and 200T are currently difficult to locate through several major U.S. retailers, while Kodak 500T remains available through some sellers but has also experienced periods of limited inventory.
Independent camera stores, photography labs, and motion-picture suppliers may still have limited quantities of individual Kodak stocks. Confirm availability directly before ordering because inventory can sell quickly.

Wolfen stocks are different emulsions and are not identical replacements for Kodak Vision3. Each has its own color, grain, contrast, exposure characteristics, and processing requirements.

Original Wolfen Color 400 is a faster daylight-balanced color-negative stock for filmmakers who need more sensitivity than Color 200.
Choose Color 400 when you want more flexibility in changing or lower-light conditions or need a faster color-negative stock for documentary work, events, weddings, music videos, and other active productions.
Wolfen Color 400 is not an exact replacement for Kodak Vision3 500T. Kodak 500T is a faster tungsten-balanced film designed for indoor and low-light conditions.
Wolfen Color 400 provides another creative option when you need more speed than Color 200, but it is not an identical substitute for Kodak 500T.
Original Wolfen Color 200 Super 8 Film

Original Wolfen Color 200 is a daylight-balanced color-negative film suited to outdoor scenes, portraits, weddings, travel films, music videos, and general daylight filmmaking.
Choose Color 200 when you want a medium-speed daylight film, more sensitivity than Kodak Vision3 50D, and color-negative footage that can be professionally scanned and color graded.
Wolfen Color 200 is not the same as Kodak Vision3 200T. Kodak 200T is tungsten-balanced, while Wolfen Color 200 is designed primarily for daylight conditions.
Wolfen Color 200 is also faster than Kodak Vision3 50D and will produce a different image. It should be viewed as another available daylight film rather than an identical Kodak 50D replacement.
Original Wolfen UN54 Black-and-White Super 8 Film

Original Wolfen UN54 is a traditional black-and-white negative film for filmmakers who want a classic monochrome motion-picture image.
Choose UN54 for outdoor filmmaking, documentaries, experimental films, music videos, artistic projects, and other productions where you want black-and-white negative footage.
UN54 is different from Kodak Tri-X. Kodak Tri-X is a black-and-white reversal stock that produces a projectable positive image after reversal processing.
UN54 produces a negative that must be scanned or printed to create a normal positive image.

Kodak’s direct ordering portal currently lists its Super 8 film stocks on backorder
Kodak’s 2026 motion-picture catalog identifies its Super 8 stocks as Finish-to-Order products.
Kodak lists approximate lead times for qualifying orders, but this does not guarantee that individual cartridges will be immediately available through Kodak or a retail distributor.
B&H Photo
B&H currently lists Kodak Vision3 500T Super 8 film as available. Availability of Kodak Vision3 50D and 200T has been more limited.

Independent Camera Stores and Film Labs
Smaller photography stores and film laboratories are also worth contacting when Kodak and major online retailers are backordered.
Some independent stores carry only a few Super 8 cartridges for local filmmakers, wedding professionals, students, and photography customers.
Their inventory may not appear prominently in Google Shopping results or organic searches.
Call or message the store before traveling. Film shown in an older search result or social-media post may already be sold.

Wolfen Color 200 is faster than Kodak 50D and has its own color, grain, contrast, and exposure characteristics. It is an alternative daylight stock, not an identical replacement.
If You Were Looking for Kodak Vision3 200T
Original Wolfen Color 200 has a similar nominal film speed, but the two stocks have different color balances.
Kodak 200T is tungsten-balanced, while Wolfen Color 200 is daylight-balanced. Choose according to your lighting conditions and intended look.
If You Were Looking for Kodak Vision3 500T

Original Wolfen Color 400 provides a faster color-negative option but is not an exact replacement for Kodak 500T.
Kodak 500T is faster and tungsten-balanced, making it better suited to very low-light conditions and tungsten-lit interiors.
Original Wolfen UN54 provides a black-and-white option, but it is a negative film rather than a reversal film.
UN54 must be scanned or printed to create a positive image and cannot be projected directly after standard negative processing.
No alternative film stock will reproduce Kodak Vision3 or Tri-X exactly. Your choice should be based on the available light, the image you want, your camera, and the laboratory that will process the film.
If Kodak is available and its particular look or speed is important to your project, buy the Kodak stock that fits your needs. If the stock you need is unavailable, Wolfen provides additional color and black-and-white options for filmmakers who need to continue shooting.

Does the Film Price Include Processing?
No. The $39.99 price includes one unexposed 50-foot Super 8 cartridge. Developing and scanning are separate services.
This open workflow allows you to buy the film without purchasing an expiring service package, shoot it on your own schedule, choose your own motion-picture laboratory, select your preferred scan resolution and file format, and keep your processed film after completion.
We currently recommend Cinelab in Massachusetts and Negativeland in New York for filmmakers seeking professional Super 8 processing and scanning.

Questions About Current Kodak Super 8 Availability
Is Kodak Super 8 film discontinued?
No. A backorder or sold-out retailer listing does not mean that Kodak Super 8 film has been discontinued. Kodak continues to list Super 8 motion-picture stocks in its current product catalog. Availability should be described as limited or backordered unless Kodak officially announces that a film stock has been discontinued.
Why is Kodak Super 8 film difficult to find?
Retail availability can be affected by production scheduling, cartridge loading, distribution, retailer allocations, and changes in demand.
Kodak has not publicly identified one single cause for every current backorder. Availability currently varies by film stock and retailer, with Kodak Vision3 50D and 200T among the more difficult stocks to locate.
Where can I buy Kodak 50D, 200T, or 500T Super 8 film?
Kodak film may still be available through Kodak’s ordering portal, major camera retailers, independent photography stores, film laboratories, and specialty motion-picture suppliers.
Check whether a product is listed as immediately available rather than assuming that an active product page means the film is ready to ship. Limited quantities can sell quickly.
